Translation is more than looking up words in a dictionary or plugging them into a web application. It requires more than simply knowing how to speak two languages: a text must read well, be meaningful, and appeal to its audience, after all.
Perla Ben-Zvi has been the heart of ACR Spanish Translations since establishing the company in 1998. For the past twenty years, Perla has used her education, expertise, and thorough knowledge of English and Spanish, to provide certified translations that are accurate and idiomatic.
Born in La Plata, Argentina, Perla’s mother tongue is Spanish and, in the more than 30 years she has lived in Canada, she has become a master of English.
As a graduate of the New York University English to Spanish Translation Program, and a certified member of the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Alberta (ATIA) since 2002, Perla provides high-quality English-Spanish translations in a variety of areas, including: legal documents, business, economics, finance, tourism, pharmaceuticals and medicine, agriculture, and marketing.
She also provides exceptional interpreting services in a number of settings from government to courts, and more. Her studies also include CISOC Community Interpretation Protocols and Procedures training and police interpreting.
Perla served her community for 13 years as the Manager of Housing for the Canadian Mental Health Association as well as through the advisory boards of the William Lutsky YMCA, the Edmonton Coalition on Housing and Homelessness, and as part of the stirring committee of Home Fest. She also served as the Vice President of ATIA for Northern Alberta from 2015 to 2017.
Perla currently serves as the President of ATIA and is the regional representative to the Canadian Translators, Terminologists, and Interpreters Council (CTTIC). In her role with ATIA, Perla advocates for the professional industry of translation and interpretation, and helps to develop the high standards of quality and service that all ATIA members embody.
In her leisure time, Perla loves to travel, read books, listen to music, and enjoy time with family.
